Travel takes us from the world of fantasy to the world of reality. It gives us a chance to adjust to the changed circumstances. Books may be very good, they cannot give us this chance. We face many difficulties but we overcome them successfully. We never shy away from minor problems.

A person who has never been or who avoids going on excursions develops a narrow outlook. His temper becomes complex and he feels that his own lifestyle is the best. He fails to understand the effect of environment on human life. Through travel, he can broaden his perspective. When he comes in contact with different people from different cultures, he learns about them and tries to understand them. The world is not too big but too small for a well-travelled person. He feels that he is very close to others and the whole world is like one big family.

Therefore, travel is necessary from the point of view of national integration. It establishes mutual understanding between people of different parts and therefore the causes of friction are - soft. Not everything is necessarily to our liking. Sometimes, we get things we like, but most of the times we don't. Sometimes, we are unable to find a suitable place for our stay. Sometimes we get food which is not to our taste. Sometimes language comes in the way and creates problems in establishing communication. When we face such difficulties, we begin to develop our skill, initiative and manners. And then, we see that every problem has a solution. We become more confident and feel excited.

We say that seeing is believing. In books we only read about different subjects like Science, History, Geography etc. We read that there is Taj Mahal in Agra and Niagara Falls in USA. Reading more doesn't affect us so intensely but when we see them with our own eyes, they leave an imprint on our mind forever.
